    Installing Your DV Tech POP3 Email Account
    (Using Microsoft Outlook Express For Reading Your Email)

    Step I:

    Determine if you have Outlook Express installed on your computer. You can look for this program on your computer by:

    • Click on start
    • Go to "Programs"
    • Go to "Internet Explorer"
    • Go to "Outlook Express"

    If you have the program, continue to Step II. If you do not have this program, you will need to install it. If you have a copy of the program on a disk, follow the installation instructions. If you need a copy of the program, download it from the Internet at this address:

    Follow these instructions for download after you reach the web address listed above:

    • It will ask: "Active Setup is about to determine what Internet components are installed on your computer. Is this okay?" Answer "NO".
    • Click on the tick box next to "Microsoft Outlook Express"
    • Click on the "next" button
    • It will say "To install the components listed below, select a site near you and click Install Now. "
    • Select USA and click Install Now. It will take about 15 minutes to download.

    From here, follow the instructions provided to you by Microsoft. When you have successfully installed the software, open Outlook Express by:

    • Click on start
    • Go to "Programs"
    • Go to "Internet Explorer"
    • Go to "Outlook Express"

    And continue with Step II below.

    Step II:

  • You've found or installed Outlook Express in Step I above, and you have the program open. Select the tools button and go to accounts
  • Click the "mail" tab
  • Click "add" and go to "mail"
  • The Internet Connection Wizard will prompt you for the following information:
    1. Display Name: this is the name you want in the "from" field for email from this account. Enter the name then click "next".
    2. Email Address: this is your email account. Enter the account then click "next".
    3. Email Server Names: It is defaulted at POP3. If not, choose POP3 and fill in the following information:
    1. Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server = pop3.yourdomainname.com/net/org
    2. Outgoing mail (SMTP) server = pop3.yourdomainname.com/net/org
    3. Enter the information, then click "next".
  • Internet Mail Logon defaults to "log on using" Enter your user name and your password. If you prefer to use the Secure Password Authentication, you will need to enter your user name and password each time you check this email account. Enter the information, then click "next".
    • VIRTUAL USER NAME = your full email address, i.e. name@domain.com
      ~OR~
    • STANDARD USER NAME = the name in front of the @ symbol in your email address
      (Virtual is the most common email account. Refer to your web hosting documentation to determine if you have a virtual email account or a standard email account.)
    • Friendly Name: Enter the name for this account. If you set up several accounts, I suggest using your email address for this name. Enter the information, then click "next".
    • Choose Connection Type: Click the radio button "I will establish my Internet Connection Manually" then click "next".
    • Congratulations: then click "finish"
    • You will return to the Internet Accounts window. Double click on the new account name (the same name you entered in step D-5 above).
    • Under the GENERAL tab, type in your organization and the reply email address. Determine if you want this account to be checked each time you check email. If yes, then the default tick box is okay; if not, remove the check mark in this tick box by clicking on it.
    • Under the SERVERS tab, put a checkmark in the box that says "My server requires authentication". You do not need to change anything in the 'settings' button.
    • Click "apply" and "okay".

    CONGRATULATIONS! You have successfully setup your POP3 Email account using Microsoft Outlook. If you would like to set up another account in this same program, follow the instructions in Step II again. You can check your email by clicking the "Send and Receive" tab on the Outlook Express window.
